Dear tram friends,
the ATTS is glad to announce the sixteenth edition of the Trolley Festival, which will be held on the first weekend of December. This event has no equal in Italy and ranks among the major historical tram events worldwide. It takes place every year on the Turin tramway system, a network that boasts two tram lines regularly operated with authentic historical cars: the circular line 7 and the Sassi-Superga rack tramway. The historical fleet, jointly managed by the ATTS and the GTT (the Turin public transport company), is the largest in Italy.
This year's edition is of special importance and marks the final event of the celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the tramway in Turin. After its official inauguration on 29 December 1871, the regular horse-drawn transport service started on 2 January 1872 and was the first tramway line in Turin and in Italy.
The main purpose of the Trolley Festival, consistent with the ATTS mission, is to enhance the tramway as historical and cultural heritage of the cities. This “150th anniversary” edition will focus on two special events: an International Conference for trams experts and trams enthusiasts on Saturday 3 December and a Big Tram Parade on Sunday 4 December.
You will find the general program here attached. For any communications:
